That is a Whirlpool built 'direct drive' washer design.

So it doesn't spin either?
If the timer stops moving right at the drain/spin portion of a wash cycle and never moves on, there could be a problem with the lid switch (see the following link).

A washer will not going into the spin cycle (where draining also takes place) unless the washer can be sure the lid is closed, as a safety precaution. It is the lid switch which is responsible for detecting that.
