A/C Condensor Motor Replacement

05/28/2008 08:41 PM daveredlin

Hello. My A/C condensor motor recently seized up. A technician came out and oiled it, so as of today, it is working. My questions are 1.) how long should I expect this temporary fix to work, and 2.) Is replacing the motor something that a "rookie" could handle, 3.) does the system need recharged with coolant if the motor is replaced.

Thanks in advance!
Dave

After you find a source for a satisfactory motor, getting it home is easy. So long as you can keep your hands from the 230 volt electricity, the rest is mechanical ability. The motor is outside the sealed system, so has no effect on the charge.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
