There are models of frost free fridges that have a type of freeze tunnel effect in the freezer compartment in which there is an extended freeze time for recently placed food articles so that smaller ice crystals form in order to retain food texture. For frost free models that don not have this option, could an option be improvised? As it could possibly be seen, the fridge thermostat would have to be overrided so that a manual or timer controlled switch be installed and used at owner´s option when needed. Is this a correct reading? Also, apart from the possible interference from the routine defrost cycle of the compressor in this improvising and the subsequent lower fridge temperature in the bottom compartment, are there any other disadvantages? Are there any other recommendations to be made apart from recommending a new fridge with this option? Thanks. |
