09/18/2008 03:21 PM hobodewey

Anyone know how to gain access to the power cord inside the arm?? I have to replace the power cord but have been unable to remove the top cover to gain access to the cord inside of the arm.

If you go to sears parts direct and type in your model # you'll get the parts list and exploded views.......

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

When I go there I see the UNIT exploded view shows a removable cover/trim....two screws..... facing the rear wall.....the power cord/strain relief appear to pass thru this cover....top ?

On this same page to the RIGHT...."Manage".....Click It ....register and yadayada get the PDF manual .....(page 37)

"......measure Once.....cut Twice....
throw that one away and cut a new one...."

Cord replacement

The power cord does enter the rear of the saw but exits into a hollow area outside of the arm. It then enters the middle of the arm a few inches from the rear and includes the curly cord that goes to the motor. I need to remove the trim assembly, #9 and #10 in the manual diagram. I can't find any attachments, bolts, screws or the such which holds it down. I tried to pry it off but it just bends.
any suggestions??

I don't own the saw .....But after reviewing the exploded view again......

......Remove the front-arm-trim pieces(#20-21-22-23)

.....and Then SLIDE the top cover #9 forward off of the arm......then lift #10..........

throw that one away and cut a new one...."
