Epoxy advise needed

03/26/2007 05:14 AM aquinn

I made a countertop that is in fact a large shadow box, with all kinds of family memories in it. I need to find some epoxy to fill the boxes so that it will be very hard and I can still see thru it. The only stuff I have been able to find is in very small amounts, this counter is 8 ft long and 26 wide about 2" deep. Can any one sugesst where i go to by it.

I would call their tech support departments and tell then what you want to do.

There are two problems. Curing epoxies are exothermal and I don't know if you can do that deep (if it is the 2") at one time.

The other is bubbles in epoxy.

Also do a google on Clear Casting. You will find a number of products using different chemistries.

Oh my !......that box needs over 21 gallons of epoxy to fill it completely

Perhaps you need a piece of tempered glass instead ?

"...measure once.....cut twice....throw that one away and cut a new one...."
