Exterior Paint Base Numbers |

I was looking at Exterior paints today and noticed that some have Base numbers on the paint cans. Like Base 2, Base 3, Base 5. What does base refer to? Which would be more durable for an exterior, a high number or low number?
Thanks for any replies..... |

The base numbers are used for tinting the paint. Normally the higher the base number the darker the color is. When paint is tinted it is not tinted out of white paint but out of a tint base and the darker the color is the less white pigment is in the tint base. The darker the color the quicker it will fade so just bear that in mind when picking a color for large areas such as siding.
Just be sure you buy the premium line exterior paint as it is the best value for your money. |
