FRIDGE - Left half freezing good, right half does not cool! Help!?

06/10/2005 10:11 PM bagcheap

Hi,

We have a Maytag split-door refrigerator unit (Model MSD2756AE). It has never given any troubles so far. However, starting this morning, we noticed that refrigerator section (which is on the right hand side of the unit) is not cooling at all and has an awful lot of moisture from condensation. The freezer half (left side) seems to be working great! The unit has dual settings - one each for freezer and fridge, and both are set to high.

Any expert advice - is this simple DIY, or needs an expert? Any recommendations?

Fan in the freezer still working?...any frost on the freezer back wall?... some common trouble makers are linked below that may help.

Refrigerator cooling problem

It may be a DIY job but lots of things will need to be checked. You can read about many common causes of cooling problems in refrigerators at this link:

- My frost free refrigerator is not cooling properly. What might be the problem?

If you're unable to isolate the cause, you may need to call in a professional to check it out for you.

BTW. If you call someone in, they'll usually need to see the fridge *in the failed condition*. Don't go defrosting the unit before they get there. Leave it how it is.

Curious, did you get this problem solved? I have the exact same issue with a Maytagside by side model: msd2756ae.

Anything checked??

** I have the exact same issue **

Just because someone else's appliance exhibits the same symptoms as yours doesn't necessarily mean cause is the same in each case. The same symptom can be the result of very different problems.

I would suggest you check the possibilities mentioned at the above links on your own fridge and get to the bottom of your problem with at least some certainty.

If you need any assistance with any of that just let us know and we'll try to help.
