Installing Fluorescent Lights

06/30/2008 11:00 AM kiknit

I have an 8' high output fluroecent light fixture that I want to install in my garage, but I also want to keep the existing garage light since it wont be so blindingly bright.

The existing light is your standard lightbulb that screws into the fixture and is controlled by the switch on the wall.

The 8' light was meant to be hardwired, however I dont want to do that...its not the light I want to turn on every time I flip the switch - Id like to make it a pull-chain light.

Is there an easy way to change the setup of the 8' light from a hardwaired light to a pull string and plug it into the outlet that my garage door opened is plugged into AND keep the existing garage light on the wall switch?
