I know its not wise to run electrical lines parallel to data lines, but I have limited room to work with. I am running a electrical line to the front corner of my house for a light fixture that will be mounted on my soffit board. Rather than go into the attic (i am a tall guy, the attic is small) I ran the line along the wall inside of the soffit/fascia area.

I kept about a 6" distance between the data and electrical lines. Will this be ok? The only other option is to get in the attic and try to run the wire. I may not be able to do this though.

That should probably work, though a foot or so would be better.

The worst that is likely to happen is that the device(s) connected to the data lines would communicate slower, because the interference from the power line would cause errors (especially when the light is switched on or off). But with 6" spacing, I think the data lines would work, just slower.

It might be worthwhile to test that now, before you enclose all that wiring.

Put a computer on the data line, do a few transfers, and keep track of the speed & error rate. Then put a light bulb at the end of that electrical line, power it up, and try the same transfers again. Compare the two, and see if it works well enough to be acceptable.
