Kodiak Steel Homes or steel home experience?

03/18/2007 01:16 PM JacobWilliamThompson

Anyone have any comments or experiences to share on steel homes? I am looking at http://www.kodiaksteelhomes.com/Autumn-View-C3.aspx
as my first home, built in Kansas, on a basement (maybe ICF). I am only in the preliminary stages, so any advice or experience would be helpful.

With all the bells and whistles, the site quotes just under $50,000 for a 2500 square foot home. With this package, labor, land, and basement, and a real minimalist interior, I was hoping to pay less than $150,000 total. I don't need kitchen cabinets and only essentials in bathroom, and also a garage from the same company probably, but I do need 75% of the house to be finished. So, I just really need the essentials (water heater, 2 toilets, 1 shower, HVAC, air circulation) Is this price goal realistic? Is steel a good choice right now?

Thanks,

I am also investigating building with Kodiak, SIP, and Basment.

Scheduled to go their seminar on March 8th.

Have you been able to find anything out yet?
