Hi all.

I'm new to this forum but recently purchased a home, so I imagine I'll be here a lot! We pulled up carpet in the basement only to find asbestos tile underneath. We had the tile and mastic professionaly removed and plan to put down carpet tiles (www.florcatalog.com). Since the carpet tiles will be going directly on top of the concrete floor (no padding underneath), I feel like the floor should first be sealed or painted. The basement will be used as a playroom for my son so I want it to be as safe as possible. The floor is already a reddish color, so it looks like before the asbestos tile went down, someone painted it. So the question is, what can I use to seal/paint the floor that will adhere to it (someone mentioned to me that the solvent used to take up the mastic would not allow many products to adhere to the floor), and do you think it's even necessary to do this? Thanks for any help!

I have used an "encapsulant" to lock down any remaining asbestos fibers after all the tile is removed. It was called Pronto Locktite Encapsulant by twin-chemicals.com
