R-CO Chimey Surround

03/19/2008 10:15 AM liblrogers

I recently purchased an R-CO chimney surround to hide an existing stove pipe coming out of our roof. I'm definitely a novice, but I'm confused about how to attach it to the roof. It comes with basic intructions, but they are minimal. Anyone have experience installing one of these? Is it as simple as screwing down the mounting brackets and screwing the surround to the brackets? The brackets aren't very substantial and I a fear I am missing something. If we decide this is too much for us, whom would I call to install such a thing?

Thank you!

It is that simple; but be sure to screw the brackets to roofing members and/or add boards below the roof to secure the brackets. Be sure to seal with silicone while applying the brackets. Follow their minimal instructions.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.

Thanks for responding. My dad and nephew ended up installing it and while it took them a really long time to get everything cut and screwed down, it looks awesome and I'm very pleased.
