Removing primed wallpaper

01/26/1999 01:38 PM

I have been prepping my dining room walls for painting, stripping old wallpaper. One of my walls, unlike the others, has primer on it, painted onto a layer of even older wallpaper. This wall is SO rough I need to remove this old paper and get down to the lath and plaster (as I have with the other three walls) so I can smooth it before painting. Unfortunately, this primed paper is hard as nails to get off. Any suggestions out there? I am losing feeling in my hands trying to take this off!
