Removing teleposts

01/20/1999 07:51 PM

Our house is approx. a 1200 sq ' bungalow. There are four support beams
approx 10 feet apart. The two that I wish to remove are next to each other
on one side of the house. The area that would be opened up by doing this is
approx 600 sq'. The span of the open beam would be about 30 feet. The beam consists of 3 - 2 x 10's. I have access to the beam from the outside wall to the third telepost about 40 ' away. What extra support would be needed on the beam to remove the two teleposts.

That's something that cannot be determined without visual inspection.

Get local expert advice. Call a structural engineer.
