Replacing pieces of existing wood siding..

09/03/2008 12:07 PM muckgram

Folks,
First post so bear with me...Just bought a cottage with 12" wood siding. Some has deteriorated due to roof run off. Is there an ideal way to repair/replace these parts of the siding without totally renovating the exterior? And yes I am am re-roofing with new gutters to prevent a repaet of the problem.

Thanks,
Rob

A competent Handyman or probably the roofer's crew can repair this section for time and materials by sistering in new shingles or siding.

Where you may get into an issue is if there is water damage on the inside of that wall. You are opening a can of worms that probably needs to be opened but you never know how many worms are in there.
