Remodeling in an apartment building presents a number of challenges, not only for demolition but also for installation in this Home Again Miami Beach condo. The condo association gave Bob a maximum sound attenuation or loudness number intended to reduce sound transfer in this concrete building. The challenge was to find a flooring material that would deaden sound without resorting to wall-to-wall carpeting, which has long seemed the only option. In this episode, Bob installs a cork underlayment and click-together cork tiles that quiet sound and feel great underfoot, but give the look of stone or tile. When pre-fabricated counter pieces won't fit into the elevator, counters are laminated on site and finished with a funky chrome-look edging to make the shared kitchen-dining space comes together. Bob continues to review colors and finishes as he tours another of designer DD Allen's Miami condo creations, this one done in classic Miami white and pink.
