Bob is at the affordable home site with JoAnn Borges of CertaPro painters who explains that an affordable, durable paint job requires quality products and technology to do the job fast, well, and at a better price. First the crew uses a high-quality caulk to seal nail holes and gaps. Then they use a sprayer for a fast, even paint application. Using a one-coat, thick latex paint like Sherwin Williams Duration exterior paint lets CertaPro price the job at half the cost of a two-coat paint job and still give a great warranty. Next, the Infiltrator septic system is installed using high-density recycled plastic pipe to carry effluent from the concrete treatment tank to the soil, where biological organisms break down the treated sewage. This system saves money by eliminating the 12-inch rock bed and the cost to haul it, reducing the length of the leach field, and speeding installation. Finally, the Bilco pre-cast stair and basement entry system is drilled and screwed into the foundation and held in place with butyl resin, which is compressed to form a water-tight seal against the foundation. The doors are high-strength ribbed polyethylene and are maintenance-free, strong as steel, and manufactured for easy installation.
