Like many two career families, the Gilmores appreciate the time that today's state-of-the-art appliances can help them save. As the kitchen in their private quarters on the second floor of the mansion was outfitted with new appliances, GE's innovative Advantium oven with its revolutionary Speedcook technology made tremendous sense for this busy family.
After years of research, GE has developed a breakthrough cooking technology for the way Americans live. By harnessing the power of light, Advantium cooks the outside of food much like conventional radiant heat but also penetrates the surface so the inside is cooked at the same time. As a result, food cooks evenly and so fast the natural moisture is retained.
The Advantium cooks oven quality meals on average in one-fourth of the time of conventional ovens. it bakes, broils, grills, and roasts—all with no preheating. For example it can broil strip steak - grill seared - in seven minutes; whole roasted chicken, golden outside, moist inside, in just 25 minutes; or plumb fried chicken, crisp and ready to eat, only five minutes after you take it from the freezer.
The GE Advantium oven comes preprogrammed to cook more than 100 of America's favorite dishes. You simply dial the food, push a button, and the oven takes care of the rest. The easy-to-read display takes you through cooking options and gives you the ability to customize and save recipes. The Advantium is also easy to clean. The stainless steel oven interior wipes clean with a towel and all-purpose cleaner.
Two configerations of the new oven will be available in the near future. The one installed in the Virginia Executive Mansion fits the standard 30" wide above-the-cooktop space. A wall oven configuration will be available shortly. Both require a dedicated 240V line, and for added convenience, convert to a fully functional 950-wall microwave oven. Color choices include white, black, almond, stainless steel, and a new bisque tone.
The Advantium comes with a full 10-year parts and labor warranty on the specially designed halogen bulbs. To compensate for power supply fluctuations that typically occur in a home, the oven has a unique feature that automatically adjusts the time up or down to ensure accurate cooking performance.
