Bob's expert mechanical contractor Frank Iadarola oversees the installation of the Heatway hydronic radiant heating system in the slab of the automotive side of the "dream garage". This system was selected for the automotive area as it would provide the optimal environment for storing classic automobiles. The 85 degree floor temperature promotes tire longevity, is comfortable to stand on and makes lying on the cement floor to work under a car much easier. Radiant heat is also cheaper to operate. Even with high ceilings there will be no stratification of temperature (The temperature's the same at floor level as at the ceiling) and does not require paddlefans to drive the heat down.

The Heatway system uses a flexible hose called Entran for piping. Water is the agent that transfers heat from the boiler to the radiation. The heat source is the Energy Kinetics System 2000 boiler. The fuel is natural gas. Water is directed to its destination with pumps and controls. These pumps and controls are supported by various valves and gauges called hydrocontrols. Water is pumped from a 40 gal. storage buffer tank to the radiant zone made up of Heatway hoses all joined together by supply and return manifolds. Water is pumped through the supply manifolds at 120 degrees, passes through the radiation (Entran hoses) where it gives up much of it energy and returns through the return manifolds to it source where it is reheated.
