interior basement walls

I'm wondering about NEC requirements, if any, regarding application of drywall. If a half-finished basement's frame wall contains wiring & outlet boxes for the finished side,is drywall required on the unfinished side as well? I realize it's a good idea so as to protect the wiring, but it's a pump room & hopefully won't see much traffic. Thanks, Dave
