Amana with freezer on bottom-12 yrs old

We defrosted the fridge for a day and then plugged it in and it worked. However, it did the same thing yesterday. No air blowing into the fridge but the freezer seems fine although there is some frost on the back wall. Everything is clean and unobstructed. I've just plugged it in again and it IS blowing air in the fridge. I'm afraid it's going to die on me again. Any suggestions on what could be wrong or needs to be repaired?
